About PDF Metadata Viewer

Inspect a PDF's document metadata — title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer applications, and creation/modification dates — directly in your browser. Nothing is uploaded; the file is read and parsed locally.

This is a read-only viewer — it doesn't modify your file or offer a download, it only displays what's already embedded in it. Many PDFs have little or no metadata set, especially ones generated by simple export tools; that's normal, not a sign anything is wrong.

Frequently asked questions

Do my PDFs get uploaded anywhere?+

No — the file is read and parsed entirely in your browser. Your PDF is never sent to a server.

What metadata does this show?+

The standard PDF Document Information fields: title, author, subject, keywords, the application that created the PDF, the application that produced it, and its creation and modification dates — whichever of these are actually set.

Why does my PDF show no metadata?+

Many PDFs, especially ones from simple export tools, never have these fields filled in at all — this is common and not a sign anything is wrong with the file.

Does this tool change or remove metadata from my file?+

No — this is a read-only viewer. It doesn't modify your file in any way or offer a download; it only displays what's already embedded in it.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?+

No — an encrypted or password-protected PDF is detected and flagged rather than silently failing or attempting to bypass the password.

Is this tool free?+

Yes, completely free with no sign-up.
